On Saturday, April 18, at approximately 11:10 pm, Patrolman John Tiger stopped a 2005 Dodge Viper operated by Ronald Remschel, age 55, of West Milford, on Route 31 North near Route 173 because the vehicle matched the description of a vehicle that fled the scene of a crash in Flemington and because Ptl. Tiger observed the vehicle failing to maintain lane. Upon approaching the vehicle, Ptl. Tiger detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage on Mr. Remschel’s breath and soon determined that he was intoxicated. Mr. Remschel was arrested and transported to police headquarters where he refused to provide samples of his breath for chemical testing to determine the content of alcohol in his blood. Ptl. Tiger issued Mr. Remschel motor vehicle summonses for Driving While Intoxicated, Refusal to Submit to Breath Testing, and Failure to Maintain Lane. He was released to the custody of a responsible adult and his vehicle was towed and impounded.
