HOUSE FIRE IN RARITAN TOWNSHIP STILL UNDER INVESTIGATION

Hunterdon County Prosecutor Anthony P. Kearns, III, Chief of Detectives John J. Kuczynski, and Raritan Township Police Chief Glenn Tabasko announced that fire investigators from the Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Office, Raritan Township Fire Marshall Thomas Abraham and the Raritan Township Police Department are continuing their investigation into a house fire on Junction Road.

 

According to Prosecutor Kearns, “On Saturday, May 16, 2015 at approximately 3:14AM, Raritan Township Officer Anthony Moreno, while on patrol, reported observing smoke coming over the tree line of Walter Foran Road. He went to investigate and found a detached garage on Junction Road fully engulfed in fire. Officer Moreno advised Hunterdon County Communications and Raritan Twp. Officers Sutherland and Landolina responded. Officer Moreno alerted the residents and evacuated two adults and three children. Fire Departments responded from Raritan Township Fire Department; New Hope, PA Fire Department; Kingwood Township; Flemington Borough; Lebanon Township; Lambertville; Stockton; Three Bridges; Sergeantsville; Amwell Valley and Quakertown Fire as well as Flemington Rescue Squad. The fire departments were able to gain control over the fire and prevent it from spreading to the main residence which was located approximately ten feet away.” The Prosecutor added, “This event and the fast actions of our police officers, fire departments and rescue squads highlights the great work they do in protecting us throughout every day and night. Officer Moreno’s diligent work and fast thinking saved property and may have saved lives. I commend Officer Moreno and all the emergency service workers and volunteers for their dedication and invaluable service to our communities. This continues to be an active investigation and no further details are available at this time.”
