HUGE BRUSH FIRE ON ROCKAWAY RD TEWKSBURY – 21 acres damaged firefighters hospitalized

On 4-6-2015 approximately 2:30 p.m. officers were dispatched to Rockaway Road for a report of a brush file.  Allegedly the homeowner on Rockaway Road accidentally dropped a blow torch causing leaves to catch fire.  The fire spread to the area of homes on Honeyman Road where one of the homes sustained property damage, namely a wooden stairwell in the backyard.  Two firefighters were injured and taken to the hospital to be treated for their injuries (unknown what injuries were sustained).  Fire Warden Robert Kerschner from the NJ State Forest Fire Service indicated about 21 acres were damaged.
