John Markowski, the author of the recently released Perennials Through the Seasons will speak August 1 at 7:00 pm at the Hunterdon County Library, Rt. 12 Flemington. The book, with over 200 photos, covers 20 different perennials, spanning their emergence in spring, explosion in flower in spring and summer, the stunning foliage color in fall and ending beautifully with the plants covered in snow and ice in winter. Personal anecdotes, plant characteristics, and maintenance tips are also included. John has been blogging about gardening for over 7 years at The Obsessive Neurotic Gardener, focusing on his own garden and documenting his struggles and successes as a gardener. Best-Selling Author and Adventurer Kara Richardson Whitely

Best-selling author & adventurer Kara Richardson Whitely will speak on August 15 at 7:00 pm at the Hunterdon County Library, Rt. 12 Flemington. She will discuss her book Gorge: My Journey Up Kilimanjaro at 300 Pounds which chronicles her three hikes up Mount Kilimanjaro in Africa. Kara, who is a motivational speaker, an American Hiking Society ambassador, and has written for many national publications, is also the author of Fat Woman on the Mountain and the subject of a documentary about her third trek.
