NaNoWriMo, short for National Novel Writing Month, challenges authors, both aspiring and established, to write every day during the month of November, with the goal of ending the month with 50,000 words toward the draft of a novel. Writers can attend the Kickoff Event at 10:00 am, either on October 22 at the North County Branch Library, Clinton, or October 29 at Headquarters Library, Rt. 12. Come hear about it, with no commitment—attendance is not required in order to participate in NaNoWriMo. Both library locations will offer Come Write In sessions as a means to get away from the distractions that conspire to keep you from writing or you may find a cozy spot of your own at any time at our libraries to summon your creative muse. You may bring your own coffee, soda, and snacks to keep you fortified. The “Come Write In” program connects libraries with their local NaNoWriMo participants to provide support, encouragement, and the opportunity to build local writing communities.
