HUNTERDON ASSEMBYMAN DiMaio’s genocide awareness resolution signed

A joint resolution (SJR50/AJR69) sponsored by Assemblyman John DiMaio designating April as Genocide Awareness Month was signed today by Gov Christie.

“This measure will serve as an annual reminder of the evils perpetuated upon genocide victims and the need to continue efforts to eliminate the systematic destruction of a targeted group of people,” said DiMaio (R-Warren). “By condemning all genocides and human right violations, we commemorate and honor their victims, including many New Jersey residents who have survived acts of genocide or human rights atrocities in their native countries,” continued DiMaio.

Other states that have enacted similar legislation include Minnesota, California, Texas, and New Hampshire.
