Allyson Stillwell, a senior in Hunterdon County Polytech’s nursing program who will attend Raritan Valley Community College next year, has been awarded the 2016 Flemington Rotary Scholarship.

Allyson is the President of Hunterdon Central Regional High School’s Student Council and a member of the National Honor and National Technical Honor Societies. She has spent her high school career giving back to her community through her volunteer efforts aimed at helping those in need. She has organized clothing drives to help veterans and their families during the winter, donated and collected food items for Flemington Food Pantry, and organized and operated events benefitting various charities and causes.

“The work and time that I have put forth in these various events has been laborious and ongoing, but the reward has been even greater because the student council and I have made a difference in the lives of many people,” says Allyson.

Allyson’s desire to help people is what brought her to Polytech as a nursing student, and is the same force that is driving her to pursue a career in the field. She says, “I know I will never stop giving back because the nursing field will provide me the opportunity to help others and advocate on behalf of patients and their families.” Allyson has capitalized on the opportunities Polytech presented her, as she earned 11 college credits during her junior year and can earn 11 more at the end of this year, allowing her to enter college with 22 credits.

Hunterdon County Polytech would like to congratulate all of the school’s students who have received scholarships and are looking to continue their education. To date, this year’s graduating class has received over $1.7 million in scholarship funds. “Our students have enjoyed a tremendously successful year, during which they excelled in competitions at the state level and earned spots at national events. The entire Polytech community is happy to see that they are being rewarded for their hard work,” said Dr. Metz, Superintendent of Hunterdon County Vocational School District.
