Hunterdon Healthcare and Shop-Rite of Flemington will be presenting a spring health and wellness education series for the community. The second event in the series will be a “Cooking Demonstration for People with Diabetes.” It will be held on Tuesday, May 12th from 6:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. in the Conference Room at Shop-Rite in Flemington.
In 2012, 1.7 million people were diagnosed with diabetes. Many people that have been diagnosed with diabetes struggle with creating healthy meals and making informed eating decisions, but living with diabetes does not mean food deprivation. This class will help those living with diabetes understand how to balance their meals and make healthy choices.
Velta Soucie, Registered Dietitian, Center for Nutrition and Diabetes Management, Susan Lang-Saponara, Registerd Dietitian with Shop-Rite, Shiela Suerig, Health and Wellness Coordinator at Shop-Rite and Margaret Dobbs, Corporate Wellness Chef at Shop-Rite will lead the cooking demonstration.
This cooking class is free to attend. Shop-Rite is located at 272 Route 202 and 31 in Flemington. To register, call 908-788-6157 or emailExley.Jennifer@hunterdonhealthcare.org.
