Jeanne Gee, RDN, CDE, CSO, Coordinator, Oncology Nutrition Services at Hunterdon Regional Cancer Center has achieved board certification as a specialist in oncology nutrition from the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. Less than one percent of registered dietitians hold the CSO credential in the United States. Ms. Gee is also a Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE), only five percent of registered dietitians hold this credential in the United States.
“Board certification as a Specialist in Oncology helps to identify registered dietitians with this specialized skill set as the nutrition experts for patients who are seeking timely, accurate and reliable information on eating well before, during or after cancer treatment,” said Ms. Gee. To become board certified, a registered dietitian must successfully meet rigorous specialty practice requirements and pass a nationally administered examination from the Commission on Dietetic Registration.
Board certified specialists in oncology nutrition are registered dietitians working directly with individuals at risk for, or diagnosed with, any type of malignancy or pre-malignant condition. Ms. Gee is the only registered dietitian to offer oncology nutrition counseling to patients at Hunterdon Regional Cancer Center.
Ms. Gee resides in Raritan Township. To learn more about Jeanne Gee and the staff at Hunterdon Regional Cancer Center, visithttp://hunterdonhealthcare.org/cancer.
