HUNTERDON Veterans Encouraged To Apply For County Recognition Medal Public Invited to August 23rd Ceremony

Hunterdon County residents who have served in the United States Military are invited to apply for the
Hunterdon County Veterans’ Recognition Medal, which will be presented at a special event honoring
Veterans, during the opening ceremonies of the 2017 4-H and Agricultural Fair, on Wednesday, August 23,
Freeholder Board Deputy Director John King announced, “The Veterans’ Recognition Medal program is an important way for our County to honor the sacrifice and patriotism of those who have served our nation and protected our freedom.

Nearly 1500 medals have been awarded since the program began in 2003 and we are inviting the public
and previous recipients to join us for the ceremony on August 23rd to help congratulate and honor the
new awardees.”
For a Veteran to qualify he or she must currently be a
Hunterdon County resident who served on active duty in
the U.S. Military for at least 90 days.
“If you are a veteran or know a veteran who should be
recognized, we encourage you to apply. Applications
are available on the County website

Vietnam Veteran John N. Hatzikalfas of Team Graphics,
located in Flemington NJ, created the design for the
medal in 2002
