IN HUNTERDON JOINT INVESTIGATION RESULTS IN INDICTMENT FOR SEX CRIMES

Hunterdon County Prosecutor Anthony P. Kearns, III, announced the indictment of Carlos
M. Hernandez-Escobar, age 30, of Flemington, NJ.
On October 19, 2017, Mr. Hernandez-Escobar was indicted by a Hunterdon County Grand
Jury for two counts of 2nd degree Sexual Assault and two counts of 3rd degree Endangering
the Welfare of a Child.
On August 18, 2017, Mr. Hernandez-Escobar was arrested after investigation by detectives
from the Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit, Flemington Borough
Police Department and Raritan Township Police Department revealed Mr. HernandezEscobar
had sexual contact with a juvenile victim when the victim was under the age of 13.
These incidents occurred in both Raritan Township and Flemington Borough in 2015.
Mr. Hernandez-Escobar is scheduled to be arraigned in Hunterdon County Superior Court
on October 30, 2017.
The filing of a criminal complaint is merely a step in the criminal justice process. The
defendant is presumed innocent until the matter is resolved in a court of law.
