IN HUNTERDON PRESCRIPTION MEDICINE DISPOSAL PROGRAM

Hunterdon County Sheriff Frederick Brown’s visit to the County Senior Citizens Center last week brought compliments to all the Seniors in attendance.

The Sheriff visits the Senior Center on Gaunet Place to retrieve Prescription Medicines which are brought to the Center to be properly disposed of.

The  Sheriff reiterated that properly disposing of unused medications keeps these medicines away from our children and out of our water supply as he collected over five pounds of drugs this visit.  As noted, this “drop off point” is doing exactly what it is supposed to do and we are all grateful to be doing our part to keep our residents safe and not putting them into our water supply by flushing them down the toilet.  Drop offs include Prescription Medications, Prescription Patches, Prescription Ointments, Over the Counter Medications, Vitamins, Samples and Medications for pets.  Drop offs do not have to be expired and includes those that are no longer needed nor wanted.

Drop off of those included items can be done at the Senior Center, 4 Gaunet Place, Flemington,   (Raritan Township)  on the second Tuesday of each month.  Information on alternate drop sites, including the County Court House, 65 Park Avenue, Flemington is readily available by contacting the Sheriff’s Office at (908) 788-1166.
