On Saturday, February 6th the Hunterdon Health and Wellness Center will host Fit for Cancer from 7:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Fit for Cancer is structured to be a physical challenge, but a safe one. Every day is game day in the fight against cancer.  There are several events that participants can choose to sign up for by the hour.

Participants can sign up for a morning three hour spin class from 7:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m., ($40 registration fee), an afternoon three hour spin class from 10:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. ($40 registration fee), a six hour spin class from 7:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. ($80 registration fee). All Spin classes will be held at the Clinton facility.  A three hour Zumba dance class (Whitehouse Station facility) will also be offered from 8:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. ($40 registration fee) or a Warrior Challenge from 8 a.m.– 12:00 p.m. which will include cardio, muscular strength and endurance and flexibility exercises ($50 registration fee).  The Warrior challenge will be offered at the Clinton and Whitehouse facilities.

In addition, Fit for Cancer Yoga will be offered at both Hunterdon Health and Wellness Centers in Clinton and Whitehouse Station on Friday, February 5th from 6:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.  The registration cost to participate is $40.00.

On Sunday, February 21st HealthQuest of Hunterdon will host Fit for Heart Health in loving memory of Tony Tierno, a longtime employee of HealthQuest who passed away suddenly in 2015 due to complications with his heart.  Participants can sign up for a three hour spin class from 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. or 2:15 p.m. – 5:15 p.m. ($50 registration fee), or choose to do a six hour spin class from 11:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. ($100 registration fee).

In addition, five Weightlifting Challenges will be available and participants can choose to do one or up to five challenges ($25 registration fee per activity).

This is the 11th year Fit for Cancer has been held and the event has raised over $350,000 for Hunterdon Regional Cancer Center since it began. Hunterdon Regional Cancer Center is a partner of Fox Chase Cancer Center. Its comprehensive services include chemotherapy, radiation therapy, clinical research, early detection and screening programs, support groups, educational programs, nutrition counseling, psychosocial support, complimentary therapies and cancer risk assessment.

Funds for Fit for Heart Health will be donated to the Heart and Vascular programs at Hunterdon Medical Center. No other health concern affects more people in Hunterdon County than cardiovascular disease.  It is the County’s leading cause of death and its incidence is on the rise due, in part, to the growing number of area residents between the age of 45 and 64 – a time in life in which the onset of cardiovascular disease is most likely to occur.

Participants do not have to be members of the Hunterdon Health and Wellness Centers in Clinton or Whitehouse Station or HealthQuest of Hunterdon to take part in Fit for Cancer or Fit for Heart Health.  The Hunterdon Health and Wellness Center in Clinton is located at 1738 Rte 31 North, Clinton and the Whitehouse Station facility is located at 537 Rte. 22 East, Whitehouse Station.  HealthQuest of Hunterdon is located at 310 Highway 31 North in Flemington.
