Jay Scott

Jay Scott, age 87, of North Las Vegas, NV, passed away on Thursday, January 18, 2018 at MountainView Hospital in Las Vegas, NV.

He was born on November 9, 1930 in Philadelphia, PA.  He spent his childhood in Philadelphia before moving to New York City, where he would later meet his wife.   For many years he was a resident of West Portal, NJ until moving to North Las Vegas, NV in 1991.

He was the son of the late Anthony and Ida Foti Scott.

His wife, Marie A. Scott passed away in December of 2015 after 55 years of marriage.

Jay was the Co-Founder, along with his wife, of Camp-Out Inc. since 1972, with 10 national locations.  Jay and his wife also founded Jugtown Mountain Campsites in Asbury, NJ.  His career started in show business as a professional actor in New York City.

He was a Korean War Veteran, serving with the US Navy for 4 years.

Memberships include Our Lady of Las Vegas in Las Vegas, NV and The Church of the Annunciation in Bloomsbury, NJ where he was also a member of the Holy Name Society.  In his younger years, he was a musician and member of the Aqua String Band in Philadelphia.

Jay enjoyed watching many sporting events and he also enjoyed hunting.  He loved to travel with his wife and especially loved going on cruises.

Survivors include seven children; six sons and one daughter- Christopher Scott and his wife Susan of Hillsborough, NJ, Michael Scott of Asbury, NJ, Gregory Scott and his wife Patricia of Miami, FL, Andrew Scott and his wife Taryn of Asbury, NJ, Anthony Scott and his wife Jennifer of Las Vegas, NV, Robert Scott and his wife Michelle of Las Vegas, NV and Catherine Cox and her husband Roger of Asbury, NJ.  Thirteen grandchildren; Christopher Scott Jr., Lauren Scott, Nicole McAdoo and her husband Jordan, Jacqueline Scott, Zachary Grenache, Brendan Scott, Madeline Scott, Victor Scott, Taylor Moore, Anthony Scott, Emma Scott, Sebastian Scott and Angelo Scott.  Three great-grandchildren; Vincent McAdoo, Rosalia McAdoo and Francesca McAdoo.  One nephew; Bradley Lawrence of Rahway, NJ.  One niece; Katharine Wrenn and her husband Christopher of Dallas, TX.

Predeceased by one brother; Mitchell Scott.

Calling hours will be Friday, January 26, 2018 from 2-4pm and 6:30-9:30pm at Scarponi-Bright Funeral Home, 26 Main Street, Lebanon, NJ 08833.  Funeral Mass will be Saturday, January 27, 2018 at 11am at Church of the Annunciation, 80 Main Street, Bloomsbury, NJ.  Interment at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Alpha, NJ.
