JETS – REDSKINS – ONE THING SHINES THROUGH BRYCE IS THE FUTURE

The Jets for some reason seem hell bent on keeping Geno Smith on the roster but if anything came out of the Jets lackluster performance down in DC it was that Bryce Petty, with more seasoning and experience can be the future QB of Gang green.

Playing behind a second string offensive line and with third string receivers Petty showed that he can sling the ball like a starter. With four qb’s on the roster one should really go and with a cap savings of about a million bucks it looks like Geno should be the one that gets the door.

It’s not exactly clear who makes roster decisions, Coach Bowles or Big Mac the Gm, but if it’s the GM’s choice Geno should watch as the door hits him in the backside. Big Mac drafted Hack in the second round this year and as a result he is not going anywhere. Petty, when he gets an opportunity is showing that he is growing into the position and there is no reason that he should not be getting second string reps in practice to advance his progress. Geno is simply in the way.

If Ryan Fitz stays for two years after this one Petty will have four years watching and learning, the same time Aaron Rodgers spent behind Farve, and we all know how well that worked out. It’s time to move Bryce up into the number two spot and start working on the future, it will also give Hack some additional reps in practice so the Jets can make a better evaluation on his future.
