John George (Jack) Bullock
John George (Jack) Bullock, passed away peacefully, at home, on May 5, 2016. He was 82.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Elinore; his daughter, Linda Symington and her husband Wesley; his son John P. Bullock and his wife Heather. He was the adored Pop-Pop to three grandchildren: Alex, Emma and Maggie; and was the devoted brother of Edwin (Ted) Bullock (pre-deceased) and Barbara Gates. Uncle Jack will also be missed by several nieces and nephews.
John was born in Cleveland, Ohio to Edwin and Adeline Bullock. He was raised in Merrick, L.I., N.Y., where he graduated Mepham High School in 1952. He obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from NYU. Throughout his professional career, John was employed by Western Electric, which was later acquired by AT&T.
John and Elinore married in 1959 and spent some 20 years in Amityville, NY, raising children and exercising their passion for sailing. He was an active member of the Narrasketuck Yacht Club where he served as Commodore and could usually be found giving others a helping hand. In 1984, John and Elinore moved to Califon NJ. He retired five years later and devoted himself to volunteering, exploring his faith and enjoying his family. John raised 21 puppies and performed community outreach for The Seeing Eye. An active member of the Fairmount Presbyterian Church, John sang in the choir and served as a Deacon. Over the past decade he re-discovered his keen interest in antique sports cars and became involved in the N.J. Triumph Association, where John delighted in leading scenic road rallies through local winding back roads.
