HOLLAND TOWNSHIP, NJ – John “Jack” R. Buehler, 85, of Holland Township, NJ, passed away peacefully with his loving wife by his side on Friday, August 11, 2017, at his home.

His kind, sweet nature and wit will be missed by all who knew him.

Born December 20, 1931 in Hackensack, NJ, Jack graduated from Rutherford High School and Rutgers University. Jack’s graduate work includes the Industrial College of the Armed Forces, the NATO Senior Officers School, and The Securities Industry Association Institute, Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania. Jack is a decorated Veteran, having served in the US Air Force for 31 years, with the retiring rank of Colonel. He was a proud Veteran of the Korean War, having served at Clark Air Base in the Philippines, where his twin sons were born. Colonel Buehler received the distinguished Legion of Merit Award of the United States, for ‘exceptionally meritorious conduct in the performance of outstanding services and achievements’. Jack also worked for the US State Department in Washington, DC, at the Pentagon, and for NATO HQ, Brussels, Belgium. He was President of the US Air Force Aid Society, the official charity of the United States Air Force, providing worldwide assistance to thousands of airmen annually.

Jack also had a distinguished career on Wall Street. Starting as a stockbroker, he swiftly moved
up through the ranks as Manager, Director of Marketing , Board of Advisors – New York Institute of Finance, and Chairman of the Wall Street Training Directors Association. In that capacity, Jack and his team created what is known today as the Series 7 Qualification Exam, taken annually by thousands in the financial industry. As Executive Vice President, International Division, of Global Training and Development Group, Inc., under contract with the US Agency for International Development, Jack traveled the world advising foreign governments and securities organizations concerning capital markets development. He made many friends in countries ranging from Russia, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Romania & Tunisia, just to name a few.

Son of the late John Guy and Ethel (Brown) Buehler, Jack is survived by his beloved wife of 14 years Gael Kelly, his daughter Cynthia Allen of Amherst, NH, his sons Jeffrey Alan Buehler of Maryland, James Steven Buehler of Annandale, NJ, and Thomas Wake Buehler of Bethlehem, PA, his 13 grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his first wife Mary Louise (Naething) Buehler in 1990, his son Charles Arthur Buehler, his son-in-law Jonathan Handley Allen, and his brother Kenneth Nelson Buehler.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 17, 2017 at 10 AM at the Johnson-Walton Funeral Home, 24 Church Road, Holland Township, NJ. Interment will follow at the Fairview Cemetery in Westfield, NJ. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 16, 2017 from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM at the funeral home.
