–John Joseph Sheehan, 84, entered into eternal rest on Monday, March 15, 2017 at Crestview Center, Langhorne, PA. John was born in New York City, NY to Hugh and Mary (Knuth) Sheehan. He was raised in New York City, NY and in New Jersey before settling to Newtown, PA six years ago.
John began his career as a Private with the United States Army and proudly served in the Korean War. Upon his honorable discharge, John worked as a Police Officer for New York City Housing Authority in New York City. In addition, John enjoyed his position as a butcher for many different meat markets throughout New York and New Jersey. He enjoyed spending time with his wife, daughter and cherished grandchildren.
Besides his parents, John was predeceased by his three siblings, sister Henrietta (Sheehan) Bellini, sister Mary (Sheehan) Ward and brother Daniel Sheehan.
John is survived by his devoted wife of 59 years, Loretta (Burke) Sheehan; his cherished daughter, Lisa and her husband Stephen Gaeta of Flemington, NJ. He will also be deeply missed by his adored grandchildren, Stephen, John and Erica Gaeta. He leaves behind many dear nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend viewing at Countryside Funeral Home, 724 Route 202 North, Three Bridges, NJ 08887 on Tuesday, March 21 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. and on Wednesday, March 22 from 10:45 a.m. to 11:15 a.m.
Funeral services will begin at 11:15 a.m. on Wednesday, March 22 at the funeral home followed by a 12:00 p.m. funeral liturgy, with officiant Father Walter, at St. Magdalen de Pazzi Roman Catholic Church, 105 Mine St., Flemington, NJ 08822. Committal words and interment will follow at Washington Crossing National Cemetery, 830 Highland Road, Newtown, PA 18940.
