Joseph V. Prostak Sr., age 69, of Clinton Twp., NJ passed away on Saturday, August 1, 2015 at Morristown Medical Center in Morristown, NJ with his family at his side.
He was born on May 8, 1946 in Somerset, NJ and was a lifelong resident of Clinton Twp., NJ where his family operated their dairy farm.
He was the son of the late Vasily and Helen Stala Prostak.
Joseph was the husband of Randi Sue Heft Prostak, celebrating 44 years of marriage.
He was a 1964 graduate of North Hunterdon Regional High School.
Joseph helped on the family dairy farm growing up and recently moved back to the homestead ‘Paradise Farms’ in Clinton Twp., NJ for his final years. Over the years, he worked for Washington Auto Parts for over 30 years along with HMB and a few local gas stations. He lastly operated his own auto parts business called ‘Parts & Pieces’, delivering auto parts to various locations.
Survivors in addition to his wife include 1 daughter; Joann White and her husband John of Flemington, NJ. 1 brother; Edward Prostak and his wife Debbie of Alabama. 1 sister; Mary Lomerson and her husband Ronald of Lebanon Twp., NJ, Aunt & Uncle Helen and Edmund Muckelmann. Many nieces, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins.
Predeceased by 1 son; Joseph V. Prostak Jr. who passed away in 2013. 1 brother; Paul Prostak. 1 sister; Dorothy Schaefer.
Joseph was a true people person with a wonderful sense of humor. He loved talking to people and telling jokes. He also loved gardening, assembling model cars, watching cooking shows, watching and adding to his extensive movie collection. Most of all, Joseph loved farming. He was in his glory when he was on the farm riding his tractor. He also donated his time to Clinton Twp., volunteering to till the soil for their community garden. Joseph loved helping people.
Calling hours will be Friday, August 7, 2015 from 7-9pm and Saturday, August 8, 2015 from 10am-12noon followed by Funeral Service at 12noon. All at Scarponi-Bright Funeral Home, 26 Main Street, Lebanon, NJ. Interment at Newell Cemetery in Stanton, NJ.
