JUNKIES TRY TO STEAL COPPER FROM RARITAN TWP BUSINESS

Saturday, February 7, 2015 @ approximately 1:17 PM – Police arrested Janusz S. Pachomow, age 38 of Flemington, NJ, and Brian A. Smith, age 50 of Newark, NJ, and charged each with burglary, theft and possession of burglary tools following an incident at HiTran Corporation on Rt. 31. Police were initially called to the business for a report of a burglary in progress there. Upon arrival, police located a vehicle registered to Pachomow parked on River Road and Pachomow and Smith attempting to flee the property on foot. Investigation on scene revealed that Pachomow and Smith both entered a locked storage building on the property and removed a quantity of copper and other metals with intent to steal them before being interrupted by police. Pachomow was additionally charged with receiving stolen property, possession of a controlled dangerous substance (heroin), possession of hypodermic syringes and possession of drug paraphernalia. Smith was also charged with receiving stolen property, obstructing, possession of a controlled dangerous substance (cocaine), possession of hypodermic syringes and possession of drug paraphernalia.
