Flemington, NJ- Kimberly Lynn (Della Rocco) Kennedy, 45, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, April 20, 2017 at Overlook Medical Center in Summit, NJ, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Denville, NJ, daughter to Phillip and Arlene Della Rocco, Kim was raised in Plainfield and received her childhood education in the Catholic communities of Holy Trinity School, Westfield, NJ, Class of 1985, and Immaculata High School, Somerville, NJ, Class of 1989. Kim then attended Pennsylvania State University and graduated in 1993 with her Bachelors degree in Elementary Education, and later received her Masters degree in Special Education from Kean University. Kim developed so many wonderful friendships throughout these younger years, friendships that lasted throughout her life and brought her much joy and happiness.
Kim absolutely loved being a teacher. She devoted 20 years of service toward her career, working at Country Day School, Hillsborough, NJ, Dunellen Public School District, Dunellen, NJ, and then Dwight D. Eisenhower School, Piscataway, NJ (2001-2014). She was adored and respected by countless children, colleagues, and parents. Kim was known for her beautiful smile and her overwhelming kindness. More than teaching, Kim’s greatest love was spending time with her three treasured children. She was an abundantly caring mother who exemplified compassion and generosity in all that she did for them. Kim’s love for her children was pure, selfless, and enduring, even while fighting through the pain and suffering of her illness. Kim’s message to them was constant: I will always love you.
Although she left us way too soon, Kim Kennedy touched the lives of more people than she could have ever imagined. She was truly the kindest, sweetest, and most patient person, who modeled a virtuous life, one that seems worthy of the promises of Christ. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Kim is survived by husband, Joseph Lloyd Kennedy III, and children, Cameryn, Joseph, and Devin; parents, Phillip and Arlene Della Rocco of Hillsborough, NJ; brother, Todd M. Della Rocco and wife, Elisa, of Westfield, NJ; sister, Melanie Della Rocco O’Connell and husband, Shawn of Highland Park, NJ; and nephews and niece, Christian, Ryan, Sofia, Aidan, Robert, and Jack.
