To the editor:
I am writing to strongly encourage Readington residents to re-elect Lori Blutfield for the Readington Township seat on the Hunterdon Central Board of Education. As a teacher in Readington for 32 years, I have seen outstanding board members really make a difference for our children’s education. These board members are willing to dedicate countless hours, be transparent, listen to constituents, and make decisions in the best interests of students based on facts. They also know how to be fiscally responsible, while being independent thinkers who are not afraid to speak out against the majority to try to persuade others to make the right decisions. Those are all qualities Lori has brought to the Central BOE for the past 3 years and will continue to bring for the next 3 years if re-elected. Furthermore, the fact that Lori still has a child at Hunterdon Central means that she has a vested interest in getting Central back on the right track.
Hunterdon Central is currently going through enormous changes that will have long-lasting effects on the school’s future. Selecting a new superintendent is the most important job of a school board member, as the superintendent is ultimately responsible for setting the school’s culture and administering the school. Unlike her opponent, Lori has no conflicts of interest and will be able to fully represent Readington Township residents on this crucial decision. If Lori is not re-elected, we will essentially be losing one-third of our voice on the Board in this decision as well as many other administration related decisions. I urge you not to let that happen by going out to vote for Lori Blutfield on November 8.
