MAN ARRESTED FOR HEROIN AND ELUDING CHARGES
February 27, 2017
Hunterdon County Prosecutor Anthony P. Kearns, III, Chief of Detectives John J. Kuczynski, and Clinton Township Police Officer in Charge Doug Higgins announced that a joint investigation by the Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Office Gangs, Guns, & Narcotics Task Force and the Clinton Township Police Department has led to the arrest of one individual for narcotics offenses. According to Prosecutor Kearns,
“The joint investigation resulted in the arrest of Alvin J. Wise, age 33, of Orange, NJ, on February 22, 2017, for Conspiracy to Distribute Heroin, a 3rd degree crime, Eluding, a 2nd crime, and numerous motor vehicle violations. The investigation revealed the defendant traveled to Clinton Township to sell heroin. As detectives moved in to arrest the defendant he fled the scene in a motor vehicle. The defendant proceeded northbound on Route 31 and was stopped and arrested a short time later in Lebanon Township. The defendant was lodged in the Somerset County Jail pending his first court appearance.” Prosecutor Kearns added, “I would like to thank the Clinton Township Police Department, Lebanon Township Police Department and the New Jersey State Police Perryville Barracks for their assistance. Due to the expertise and professionalism of the law enforcement officers involved they were able to safely apprehend the defendant without undue risk to the public.” The filing of a criminal complaint is merely a step in the criminal justice process. The defendant is presumed innocent until the matter is resolved in a court of law.
