Mary Lesko, age 101 years, of Raritan Township,

Mary Lesko, age 101 years, of Raritan Township, NJ, died on Monday, February 5, 2018 in the Hunterdon Care Center, Raritan Township, NJ.

Born in Yonkers, NY, August 30, 1916, daughter of the late Andrew and Anna Repka Waisempacher, she had lived many years in Hunterdon County, NJ and also spent twenty-nine years in Lehigh Acres, FL.

A dietary chef, Mary was one of the original employees of Hunterdon Medical Center, Raritan Township, NJ. She worked there for over twenty-eight years before retiring.

A Charter Member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Flemington, NJ, Mary was also a longtime and faithful member of St. John’s Lutheran Church while living in Florida. Faith was an important part of Mary’s life and she instilled the values of being a good human being into her children. Love and respect for all were always part of the Lesko household.

Mary greatly enjoyed to sew and made curtains, clothing, blankets and other gifts for her family. Her attention to detail was remarkable, and many of her hand-sewn items are still being used by her family today, having been made more than sixty years ago.

Being a dietary chef, Mary was also well-known for her cooking skills. She enjoyed gardening, growing orchids and simply enjoying nature.

Mary would want to be remembered as a woman who loved her family, loved her fellow man and loved her God. As the author Luffina Lourduraj wrote on the subject of mothers, “You loved me before seeing me; You love me in all my mistakes; You will love me for what I am.” A mother to all who knew her, this quote sums up who Mary Lesko is and will always be to all those people who were fortunate enough to have known her, seen her warm smile, and been the recipient of her genuine caring and love.

Her husband, George, died in 2004. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Georgia M. Mina in 2009, a son-in-law, Peter J. Mina in 2013,  a brother, Andrew Waisempacher, Jr. in 2016 and two other brothers, Samuel Waisempacher and Milan Waisempacher.

Surviving are her devoted daughters and son-in-law, Gloria A. and Harry Quick, Suzanne D. Leupold, and Ellen A. Chromeck;  a brother and sister-in-law, Albert and Jane Waisempacher; her sister-in-law, Marge Waisempacher; her grandchildren, Shelly and Darcy Corrado and Michael Chromeck; her great grandchildren, Daniel, Chelsea, Kathryn; many extended family; and many dear friends.
