Melanie M. (Chelberg) Debele, 70

 Melanie M. (Chelberg) Debele, 70, entered into eternal life on Monday, May 2, 2016 at home with loving family by her side. Born in Newark, NJ, daughter of the late Albert Frederick and Frances (Olski) Chelberg, she resided in Edison, NJ before settling in Stockton in 1980.

Melanie enjoyed volunteering as a greeter at Hunterdon Medical Center in Flemington, NJ. She spent time reading Nicholas Sparks’ books, as well as many different versions of the bible. Melanie loved spending time with her many friends; and enjoyed making them laugh with a good joke. Melanie was a shopaholic, especially for shoes. She adored spending time with her five grandchildren. She was a communicant of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Lambertville, NJ and St. Magdalen de Pazzi Roman Catholic Church in Flemington, NJ.

Besides her parents, Melanie was predeceased by a son, James “Jimmer” Capell who died in 2002.

Melanie is survived by her beloved husband, Ross W. Debele, Jr., with whom she married on September 16, 1977 and shared thirty-eight years of wedding bliss; four loving children, son, Geoffrey Capell and his wife, Ellen of Chester Springs, PA, daughter, Jennifer and her husband Christopher Sabosik of Upper Black Eddy, PA, daughter, Shannon Debele of Milford, NJ, and son, Ross W. Debele, III of Fort Lauderdale, FL; and dear brother, Frederick Chelberg, Jr. and his wife, Sandra of Jackson, NJ. She will be deeply missed by five cherished grandchildren, Zoe Sabosik, Alexis Sabosik, Keira Burd, Braedon Burd, and Nicholas Capell; and her cherished Maltese fur-babies, “Sparkles” and “Arlene”.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a viewing at Countryside Funeral Home, 724 Route 202 North, Three Bridges, NJ 08887 on Thursday, May 5 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. and on Friday, May 6 from 9-9:45 a.m.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 6 beginning 9:45 a.m. at the funeral home followed by a 10:30 a.m. funeral liturgy at St. Magdalen de Pazzi Roman Catholic Church in Flemington with Fr. Anthony Arockiadoss officiating. Committal words and interment will follow at Neshanic Cemetery in Hillsborough, NJ.
