MOTOR VEHICLE ACCIDENT CLAIMS THE LIFE OF A 17 YEAR OLD AND INJURIES 16 YEAR OLD

Hunterdon County Prosecutor Anthony P. Kearns, III, Chief of Detectives John Kuczynski and Franklin Township Officer in Charge Lt. Timothy Snyder announced that at approximately 8:52am on June 30, 2017 a fatal motor vehicle accident occurred on CR513 at the intersection of Race Street and Grandin Avenue in Franklin Township, Hunterdon County, NJ. The driver of a 2013 Toyota Corolla driven by a 17 year old male with a 16 year old male passenger from Hampton NJ entered CR513 and was struck by a 2005 Kenworth T80 dump truck travelling south on CR513. The dump truck was operated by Walter Bravo, age 24 from Newark NJ.
The 17 year driver was fatally injured in the accident and his 16 year old passenger was flown to Morristown Memorial Hospital by New Jersey State Police NorthSTAR medevac helicopter with non-life threatening injuries. According to Prosecutor Kearns, “This accident is terrible tragedy. Our hearts go out to the family and friends of the young men involved. The investigation into the accident will be conducted by the Franklin Township Police Department under the supervision of the Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Office Forensic Analysis Collision Team with the assistance of the New Jersey State Police Fatal Accident Unit.” Assisting at the scene of the accident were the Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Office, Franklin Township Police Department, New Jersey State Police, Quakertown Fire Department and Rescue Squad, Clinton Fire, Clinton First Aid and Rescue Squad, Hunterdon County MICU, Hunterdon County Medical Examiner’s Office, Superior Towing Company and Hunterdon County Garage Services.
