Hunterdon Medical Center will be hosting Abbott Diabetes Care “Know Your Sugar Sculpture Tour” on Tuesday, July 18th from 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. in the main lobby of the hospital.  The goal of the exhibit is to raise awareness of the growing diabetes epidemic in the U.S.

The second annual “Know Your Sugar” U.S. Tour will kick off on June 19th in Chicago and feature an intricate sugar sculpture depicting “a future city” by world renowned Irish sugar sculptors Brendon Jamison and Mark Revels.  Both Brendan and Mark are passionate about diabetes education.  Brendan grew up with a father who has type 2 diabetes and Mark’s grandmother passed away from diabetes complications.  They took this as their way to spread the message.

The multi-city tour will stop in Chicago, Cincinnati, Norfolk, Washington, D.C., Philadelphia, New York, New Jersey, Boston and Indianapolis.   The daylong event will include fun activities, the opportunity to meet the artists and access to Hunterdon Healthcare’s Diabetes experts to discuss the importance of monitoring and maintaining target glucose levels in order to live fuller and healthier lives.

Hunterdon Medical Center is located at 2100 Wescott Drive in Flemington. The exhibit will be featured in the lobby just as you walk through the entrance to the hospital.
