New Youth Science Classes Set at RVCC this Summer

Raritan Valley Community College (RVCC) in Branchburg will offer a variety of new science classes this summer for children ages 6-12. Detailed descriptions of all youth classes may be found at www.raritanval.edu/youth. The following new science courses will be offered: A Pirate’s Quest: Students ages 6-9 learn about the structures of pirate ships and then build a motorized model ship. The program will include playing pirate trivia games, role playing, and dressing like a pirate. The class will be held Monday through Friday, July 13-17, from 9 a.m.- noon, and repeated July 20-24 and August 3-7, both from 1-4 p.m. The fee per week is $192. Animal Grossology: Students ages 6-12 spend a week discovering the crazy biology of various animals. Participants explore fascinating facts about the animal kingdom, focusing on a specific creature each day. The class will be offered Monday through Friday, June 22-26, 1-4 p.m. for ages 7-12; July 13-17, 1-4 p.m. for ages 6-9; and August 3-7, 9 a.m.-noon for ages 7- 12. The fee per week is $192. NASA Space Adventures: Students ages 7-12 learn and build models inspired by NASA using Bricks 4 Kids copyrighted model plans. In addition to learning about each model, the participants will participate in discussions about gravity, thrust, space travel and exploring the galaxy. The class will be held Monday through Wednesday, June 29-July 1, from 1-4 p.m. The fee is $122. The class will be repeated Monday through Friday, July 27-31, from 9 a.m.-noon. The fee for the weeklong program is $192. Model Design with LEGO Bricks: Students ages 7-12 learn about the functions of various LEGO components and discover how these components can work together to create all kinds of solid structures and moving parts. The class will be held Monday through Friday, July 27-31, from 1-4 p.m. The fee is $192. Before- and after-care are available for youngsters.
