To Whom it May Concern,
Hello, my name is Steve, and I am representing Mission Clean Water. Our mission is to help provide safe drinking water to people who do not currently have access to clean water. I am writing to you to inform you about a national campaign that we will be launching on May 17, 2017. On this day, our founder, James Leitner, is going to be departing on a 3,000+ mile walk across the country while carting 90 lbs of water to raise awareness and funds for the global water crisis. He will be departing from Princeton, NJ on May 17, and is expected to be walking through your country around May 18th!
In case you are not aware, more than 750 million people in the world do not have access to clean water. Many people, mainly women and children, spend their whole lives carrying water 8-10 miles a day for their families and communities. The worse part is that this water is not clean. As a result, children cannot attend school, women cannot contribute to their communities in any other ways, and disease is rampant. This is a recipe for disaster and a downward spiral that needs attention.
James has devoted his life to the global water crisis, and has been working with non-profit organizations for the past seven years doing everything he can to fight for these people that too often get forgotten. More recently, in April 2017, James completed his commitment of running a marathon a month for a full year while carrying 45 lbs of water. The funds he raises during the walk will go to a non-profit organization called The Philadelphia Serengeti Alliance who works to install new wells and repair existing wells in the Mara region of Tanzania. More information on the global water crisis, The Philadelphia Serengeti Alliance, James, the marathons, and the walk across the country can be found at missioncleanwater.com. I have also attached to this email a video of James explaining his involvement with this cause.
I write to you in an effort to notify you of this campaign and let you know that James will be walking through your county soon, and to see if you would be interested in doing a story about him. We would gladly put a link to the article/video on our website if you do. If you have any questions, or need any additional information, simply reply to this email and we will promptly provide you with whatever you need.
Please feel free to follow James’ progress on his journey through our website/newsletter, facebook, instagram, and/ortwitter!
