Police arrested Taniyah K. Stevens, age 23 of Orange, NJ and charged her with possession of less than 50 grams of marijuana following a motor vehicle stop on Rt. 202. Stevens was initially stopped for not having a front license plate on her vehicle. A computer check of the vehicle registration also revealed that Stevens had an active warrant issued for her arrest out of Newark Municipal Court ($3,500.00 bail). Stevens was issued motor vehicle summonses for improper display of license plates and possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle. Per Newark PD, Stevens was released on her own recognizance with a new court date for the warrant issued out of their court. She was released after processing for the Raritan Township charges.
