Norma Cowell

EASTON, PA, FORMERLY OF HOLLAND TOWNSHIP – Norma Cowell, beloved mother, 88, formerly of Holland Township, NJ, died peacefully at New Eastwood in Easton, PA, on Saturday morning, June 17, 2017.

Born October 15, 1928, Norma grew up in Kearny, NJ. Her parents and older brother were Scottish immigrants. After graduating from Kearny High School, Norma worked at The Prudential in Newark, NJ. On November 25, 1950, she married Arthur Cowell. They were married for 58 years before his passing on October 13, 2008. They had six children, 4 girls and 2 boys. Norma was a people person. She always had an upbeat personality, a great sense of humor, and an infectious smile. Her high school class voted her “Class Clown” and “Faculty Pest.”

Norma was an avid reader, did needlework, loved crossword puzzles, and enjoyed traveling. She never missed her daily afternoon walk wherever she lived. All day long she enjoyed her “Cup of Tea.” Norma worked at several banks including Hunterdon County National Bank and Riegel Federal Credit Union. After retirement, Norma and Art moved to Smith Mountain Lake, VA, to enjoy the Pontoon boat and many visits from family and friends. Later they moved back to Coopersburg, PA. Norma was a volunteer with the Coopersburg Friends of the Library and also volunteered at St. Luke’s Hospital in the X-Ray department.

We are blessed to have had such wonderful parents and so many good memories. Words cannot express how much they are both missed.

Daughter of the late James and Mae (Wier) Hogg, Norma is survived by her six children Kathleen Cowell of Phillipsburg, NJ, Linda Vosburg and her husband Dave of Saylorsburg, PA, Alan Cowell and his wife Nancy of Chesapeake, VA, Lorraine “Rainy” Milewski and her husband Dave of Holland Township, NJ, Kenneth Cowell of Alpha, NJ, and Claire Jesiolowski and her husband John of Raubsville, PA, her 11 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
