North Hunterdon High School announces that upon further analysis of the GPA calculations for the Class of 2015 it has been found that there is a six-way tie for Salutatorian. Congratulations to Julia Berger, Stephen Brett, Samuel Layding, Kaylee Motter, Grace Plassche and Kristian Wu, the Class of 2015′s Co-Salutatorians!
As the final ranking of graduates was being verified the day after graduation, it was discovered that the formula entered in the district’s new student information system to calculate GPA was incorrect as it did not capture half year courses in the final calculation. Once the formula was corrected, five students rose to tie with Samuel Layding for second place for the Class of 2015.
“We have a very short timeframe to calculate who the valedictorian and salutatorian are as we are still determining final grades on the day of graduation. It is unfortunate that the error was not discovered until after the graduation ceremony, but we plan to honor our co-Salutatorians at a Board of Education meeting and with announcements on our website and through the local media,” said Dr. Richard Bergacs, Principal of North Hunterdon High School. Dr. Bergacs called the parents of the five students to inform them of the news.
Alyssa Ma remains the sole Valedictorian for the Class of 2015
