The Special Education Parent Advisory Council, otherwise referred to as SEPAC, is a parent committee established to assist parents and families of adolescents with disabilities. SEPAC is comprised of parents interested in providing input and feedback, and are interested in facilitating communication and cooperation among parents, guardians, and school officials. The ultimate goal is to enhance special education service delivery for students throughout the school district.
Membership is open to all parents/guardians of adolescents with disabilities. SEPAC is authorized to provide feedback and advice to the district regarding its special education services, programs, and policies and works in collaboration with the Special Services Director to promote a successful educational experience for our adolescents. SEPAC is designed to provide an open forum for parents/guardians to exchange ideas and develop ways in which to cope and share solutions to complex and challenging issues. SEPAC meets at regular intervals throughout the school year. The calendar and the agenda are parent driven. The district is charged with the responsibility of assisting SEPAC in maintaining its operation and activities.
I would like to invite you to our first SEPAC meeting of the 2017-2018 school year. Please join us Thursday, September 28th from 6:00 until 7:00p.m. in room 135 at Voorhees High School (256 County Road 513, Glen Gardner, NJ). If you are able to attend this meeting, please RSVP to me at email@example.com or call 908-713-4169.
I welcome this opportunity for you to meet other parents of adolescents with disabilities, to become more informed of special education law, network with other parents, and share advice and information with others who understand your issues and concerns.
