Once Again….Hunterdon County Ranked the Healthiest in New Jersey

For the seventh year in a row, Hunterdon was ranked the healthiest county in New Jersey based on a study conducted by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and the University of Wisconsin Population Health Institute.

“We are pleased for its nearly 130,000 residents that Hunterdon County has been named the healthiest county in New Jersey for the seventh straight year. This annual designation is a tribute to the continuing attention to the most important healthcare issues affecting our population by the nearly 40 community health agencies comprising the 20 year old Partnership for Health, the extensive network of primary care practices of Hunterdon Medical Center, the effectiveness of the medical investment strategies of the physician specialists of Hunterdon Healthcare, the focus on prevention and wellness services with companies like HealthQuest, the YMCA, Shop-Rite, and the Chamber of Commerce. Ultimate credit should go to the residents themselves who are taking seriously the importance of good health in their lives. In truth, good health begins at home. The Hunterdon Healthcare System is committed to support every level of healthcare need by each and every member of our county,” stated, Robert P. Wise, President and CEO, Hunterdon Healthcare.

This year’s health rankings show that people living in the healthiest county are making smarter choices regarding diet, exercise, and health assessments. The report noted that Hunterdon County residents have better access to primary care physicians, mental health providers, screenings such as diabetic monitoring and mammography.  For a complete review of the entire report, visitwww.countyhealthrankings.org.
