OPEN CAR DOOR IN PARKING LOT LEADS TO DRUG ARREST

@ approximately 1:18 AM – Police arrested Andres Garcia, age 23 of Newark, NJ and Dylan K. Brown, age 18 of Bergenfield, NJ and charged each with narcotics offenses following contact with them in the parking lot of Home Depot on Rt. 202/31. Sgt. Matthew Lawrence was patrolling the area of Home Depot when he observed an unoccupied vehicle parked in the parking lot with the driver’s door wide open and no one around. While investigating further to determine the circumstances surrounding the open door, Sgt. Lawrence located Garcia and Brown and identified them as recent occupants of the vehicle. Garcia and Brown were ultimately charged with possession of less than 50 grams of marijuana. Garcia was also charged with possession of drug paraphernalia (grinder).
