OVERLOADED UBER YIELDS UNDER AGE BUST NEW YEARS MORN

On Sunday, January 1, at approximately 12:45 am, an officer stopped a 2016 Nissan Rogue on Center Street near Route 31 for speeding. During the stop, the officer observed multiple occupants not wearing their seatbelts; some of whom were sitting on the laps of others. The officer also detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage and marijuana inside of the vehicle. The driver stated that he was an uber driver and that he did not realize that he would be giving so many passengers a ride when first contacted.
Upon further inspection, the officer observed multiple opened containers of alcoholic beverages inside of the vehicle. A search also produced a small amount of marijuana. The driver of the vehicle, James Sapp IV, age 48, of Morristown, was issued a motor vehicle summons for allowing too many passengers to ride in his vehicle. He was released. Janvier Raymundo, age 19, of Flemington, was charged with Underaged Possession and Consumption of an Alcoholic Beverage, Consumption of an Alcoholic Beverage in a Motor Vehicle, and Failure to Wear Seatbelt. He was released ROR. Brandon Pirog, age 18, of Jackson, was charged with Being Under The Influence of a Controlled Dangerous Substance, Underaged Possession and Consumption of an Alcoholic Beverage, Consumption of an Alcoholic Beverage in a Motor Vehicle, and Failure to Wear Seatbelt. He was released ROR. Alexander Luciano, age 20, of Bridgewater Township, was charged with Possession of Under 50 Grams of Marijuana, Being Under the Influence of a Controlled Dangerous Substance, and Failure to Wear Seatbelt. He was released ROR. A sixteen (16) year-old Raritan girl, a seventeen (17) year-old Bridgewater girl, and an eighteen (18) year-old Bridgewater girl were all released without charges; the juveniles to a responsible adult.
