The Theatre at Raritan Valley Community College will present an exciting afternoon of drumming with a performance by San Jose Taiko, Sunday, March 13, at 3 p.m. The presentation is part of the Theatre’s Major Artists Series. Since 1973, San Jose Taiko (SJT) has been mesmerizing audiences with the powerful, spellbinding, and propulsive sounds of taiko drumming. Through the fluid movement and sound of the drums, the ensemble expresses the beauty and harmony of the human spirit in every memorable performance. SJT has toured nationally and internationally, leading the genre by infusing traditional patterns of taiko with the beat of world rhythms including African, Brazilian, Latin, and jazz sounds. The San Francisco Chronicle called San Jose Taiko’s performance “…a superb, blood-racing exhibition of taiko drumming…” Tickets cost $20 and $30. To purchase tickets or for more information, call the Box Office, 908-725-3420, or order online at www.rvccArts.org. Senior citizen, student and group discounts are available for most performances.
