Pipeline Advocates Protest Head of FERC in Trenton Tomorrow
WHAT: Environmental groups will be protesting one of Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC)’s Commissioners, Cheryl A. LaFleur about the rubberstamp of damaging and dangerous pipelines in our region. The Commissioner is coming to Trenton, New Jersey on Friday, October 28th to speak at the NJ Energy Coalition who is a pro-fracking and pro-pipeline organization trying to proliferate dirty energy in our communities. This our chance for communities and residents to tell her to stop the pipelines. Jeff Tittel, Director of the New Jersey Sierra Club released the following statement:
“We are here united to tell FERC Commissioner LaFleur that she works for the people not the gas companies. We are going to tell her to get rid of the rubberstamp and start working for the people she is supposed to represent. FERC is a rogue agency that is more concerned with promoting pipelines than regulating them. They have continued to approve pipelines without looking at cumulative or secondary impacts. We are joining together to rally outside the NJ Energy Coalition meeting to tell LaFleur to make sure PennEast Pipeline and other pipeline proposals get the FERC out of our valley!”
