Randolph (Randy) Spencer Laks died on November 24, 2015 at Robert Wood Johnson Hospital, Somerville, after a brief illness. He was 65.
Randy was born on December 22, 1949 in Miami, FL and grew up in Pahokee, FL. He graduated from the University of Miamo with a bachelor’s degree in engineering, Vanderbilt University with a master’s degree in environmantal studies, and earned a MBA from Fairleigh Dickinson University. For many years, he owned and operated RSL Consulting Engineers in Lebanon, NJ. He was employed at Remington, Vernick & Vena Engineers of Old Bridge, NJ since 2006.
Randy met Linda Schultz while skiing in 1979 – they married in 1981. He resided in Clinton Township, NJ with his wife and children since 1986/ Throughout their 34 years of marriage, Randy and Linda enjoyed nurturing their three children and watching them grow. Sailing their sailboat, Callisto, brought them many years of family time and in recent years, became a restful haven. Randy was very active in Windjammers Sailing Club, serving as Commodore in 2001. Randy always had a way with dogs. They seemed to know thr kindness in his heart. He especially loved the companionship of his beloved dogs, Mischa and Toby. Randy also enjoyed watching college football and doing crossword puzzles.
Randy is survived by his wife Linda of Lebanon, NJ; his children Jennifer Hutnick (Brad) of Philadelphia, PA; Emily Holder (Chris) of Lafayette, CO; and Brandon of Hillsborough, NJ; his brother Barry of Winder, GA; and his dog Calli. He was predeceased by his parents, Marjorie and Eugene Laks.
Calling hours will be Sunday, November 29, 2015 from 12noon to 2pm followed by a memorial service at 2pm, all at Scarponi-Bright Funeral Home, 26 Main Street, Lebanon, NJ. Interment will be private.
