Obituary of Ronald Trainor

Ronald M. Trainor of Whitehouse Station, NJ, died peacefully at his home on Monday, March 21, 2016 with his family by his side.

Born in Staten Island, NY, he was the son of the late George and Mabel Trainor. He was the youngest of six and the last surviving sibling.

Ronald had lived in Whitehouse Station for 38 years

After graduation from Tottenville High in Staten Island, Ron worked at Al Deppe’s and for his father’s Taxi business in Great Kills.

He served four years in the United States Army as a welder & structural Steel Spec. He then continued military service in the United States Air Force for three years in the 4453rd Armt & Elect Maint Sq. Ronald completed his 20 yrs of service in the US Army Reserves at Fort Dix in the 78th Leadership Division as a MSG drill sergeant. He received many outstanding accommodations for his service.

Ronald worked 31 years for the United States Postal Service, retiring in 2002.

He belonged to the American Legion Whitehouse Post 284. Ron was a kind and caring person who loved camping, swimming, travel, crossword puzzles and hearing his brother George tell so many funny stories.

He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years Joan (Maychrich) Trainor; his son, Michael and his wife, Waleerat (Palay) of Whitehouse Station; his daughter, Kristin Payne and her husband, Daniel of Branchburg and his cherished granddaughter Arianna. His sister-in-law Dorothy Trainor of Staten Island, sister-in-law and brother-in-law Mary Ann and Frank Winterholder, of Toms River, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Richard and Debra Maychrich of Manville and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral liturgy will be celebrated on Tuesday, March 29, 2016 at 9:30 AM at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Whitehouse Station.

Friends may visit with the family on Monday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 PM at the Kearns Funeral Home, 103 Old Highway 28, Whitehouse, NJ 08888
