RVCC Names Interim Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs

Dr. Keith Pomakoy has been named Interim Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs at Raritan Valley Community College (RVCC) in Branchburg. The Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs is the chief academic officer of the College and has direct responsibility for faculty, curriculum, instruction, and assessment of all credit programs. The Senior Vice President also assumes leadership of the College in the President’s absence. “We are excited to welcome Dr. Keith Pomakoy to Raritan Valley Community College. He has enjoyed a very successful and varied career in the community college sector, serving as a faculty member, a department chairperson, a dean, and an associate vice president. He has significant experience in the areas of assessment, in program review and development, in supporting innovative teaching, and in leading institutional change. Dr. Pomakoy will be a great addition to Raritan Valley’s team,” said RVCC President Michael J. McDonough. Dr. Pomakoy comes to RVCC from Spartanburg Community College, a member institution of the South Carolina Technical College System, where he served as Associate Vice President of Instruction. Dr. Pomakoy also worked as the Dean of Arts and Sciences in Spartanburg, and as an Associate Professor of History and Department Chairperson of Social Sciences at Adirondack Community College in Queensbury, NY. In 2012, he received the prestigious SUNY Chancellor’s Award for Excellence. Dr. Pomakoy received a Ph.D. and Master of Arts in International History from the University at Albany, SUNY, and a Bachelor of Science degree from the University at Albany in European History. He also received an Associate of Science degree and a Paramedic Certificate from Hudson Valley Community College in Troy, NY. His community service work includes serving on the board of Healthy Smiles in Spartanburg, SC, and a long history of volunteering for community fire and EMS agencies.
