The ShopRite of Flemington recently completed a $10 million renovation that elevates the shopping experience with an expanded and modern store layout, more chef-prepared meals and a new, in-store café for customers.
Visitors to the store on Route 202 will find a bigger and better designed supermarket with a new food court, added space for ShopRite from Home® customers, and more organic and gluten-free products across all the store aisles. As part of the renovation, the store also received a new roof, energy efficient LED lighting throughout and environmentally-friendly refrigerated cases. ShopRite used adjacent retail space to expand the existing store footprint by 11,000 square feet.
“It has been our family’s mission for the last six decades to provide our customers with a great place to shop and our associates with a great place to work,” said Joseph Colalillo, second-generation grocer and president of ShopRite of Hunterdon County, which owns and operates five ShopRite stores in New Jersey and Pennsylvania.
“My father started the family grocery business in 1954 and opened his first ShopRite in Flemington in 1958. We have a long connection with the community and are pleased to introduce these latest amenities that improve the shopping experience and our store. We thank all our customers and associates for their patience during construction. We know we could not have done this without their cooperation and we hope they enjoy their newly renovated neighborhood ShopRite,” added Colalillo.
Renovation highlights include:
- Prepared Foods Department with “Urban-Suburban” Feel
Customers will find a bright café with seating for 30 and a separate checkout for taking out food or eating in store. Shoppers can check out a salad bar prepared daily with locally grown and seasonal produce and a wide variety of restaurant quality and seasonal recipes made by ShopRite Kitchen chefs. Favorites include chef prepared Chicken Francaise, roasted vegetable couscous and grilled asparagus. Entrees are packaged in grab-and-go containers for on-the-run meal shopping, and customers will also find freshly made rotisserie chickens, sushi, sandwiches and gourmet pizza.
- ShopRite from Home Made Even Easier
The new expanded ShopRite from Home department provides more room to fulfill online grocery orders and additional parking spots for people who pick up those grocery orders at the store. ShopRite from Home customers can also pre-order fresh prepared meals and pick up those meals along with their ShopRite from Home orders.
- More Organic Across All Aisles
Affordable organic, gluten-free and local foods are now even easier to find in store aisles. Look for items such as First Field ketchup, made locally from New Jersey tomatoes, and fresh wild oysters and clams from family-owned Cherrystone Aqua Farms. The ShopRite of Flemington also partners with the Lancaster Farm Fresh Cooperative to deliver fresh produce and dairy items from more than 100 family farmers in Lancaster County.
- Pharmacy Consultation Room and Two Dietitians
Questions about medications? Customers and associates can schedule time to talk to a ShopRite pharmacist in a new private consultation room. And the store now has two dietitians who are available to help with menu planning, nutritional advice and health and wellness goals. All of the services are free.
- Makeover for Scrunchy’s Playhouse
The popular in-store child care destination, named for ShopRite Mascot Scrunchy the Bear, was refreshed and redecorated as part of the extensive store renovation.
- New Seafood Case
The renovated store includes a special new case for stocking fresh, seasonal seafood that’s flown overnight for next-day delivery to ShopRite store.
