Small Works Art Show in Flemington, April 8–9
March 20, 2017
“Interested in original art by local artists? Come to the Small Works Art Show, and support an important cause at the same time,” says Patricia Bally, co-chair of the event to benefit Friends of Historic Flemington. The show and sale will be Saturday, April 8 from 12 to 8 p.m., and Sunday, April 9 from 1 to 6 p.m., at 123 Main Street, Flemington. An artists’ reception will be held Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m., with live music and refreshments. The public is welcome. “Each artwork will sell for $100, with half going to the artist and the other half to Friends of Historic Flemington.
We expect more than 100 paintings, collages, and mixed media items,” says Ms. Bally. “Most of the artwork will be no larger than 11×14 inches, no smaller than 8×10, but we will have some surprises too.” Artists will portray subjects of meaning to them, using a variety of media — from paint, pencil, pastel, to photography, fabric, collage. Purchased artwork may be taken home immediately. Friends of Historic Flemington supports adaptive reuse of the county seat’s historic buildings. Its members believe the demolition of the Union Hotel and three adjacent buildings in the heart of the borough’s historic district is misguided and unnecessary.
