Sophie Aro, age 96 years, died Sunday, May 1, 2016, at her home in Abington Manor at Morgan Hill Senior Living in Easton, PA.
Born January 9, 1920, in Jersey City, NJ, Sophie was the daughter of the late Andrew and Teofila (Ostrowska) Motyleski. She grew up on her family farm in Neshanic, NJ, and later graduated from Elim Bible Institute in Lima, NY. She married Wesley Aro in 1945 and the couple lived in Maryland, and then moved to Jersey City, Manville, and for many years, in Whitehouse, NJ.
She loved to garden and was very proud of her many vegetables and flowers that she tended to.
In addition to her parents, Sophie was predeceased by her brother, Steve Motyleska, and her sister, Mary DeGregorio. She is survived by her husband of more than 70 years, Wesley Aro, her son and daughter-in-law, David and Joan Aro of Three Bridges, NJ, her daughter and son-in-law, Esther and Kenneth Weaver of Ohio, and her seven grandchildren, Kristy, Michael, Kenneth, Timothy, Jeremy, Dennis and Sadie, as well as three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services officiated by the Rev. Pamela Reed and interment in Locust Grove Cemetery in Quakertown NJ, will be private and under the direction of Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington NJ. There will be no calling hours.
