The Small Biz Networking Meetup has been in existence for over 6 years, and consists of over 700 members.  The  Meetup  promotes networking with other local business owners, and helping in acquiring new business and referrals.  Members learn from each other, and there is always a special guest speaker.

The group also provide a large resource table with business cards and flyers and product displays for the members to enjoy.

Our Guest Speaker, Steve Kalafer/ owner of Flemington Car & Truck Country, will speak to our group and have a question and answer period as well. Steve has an impressive bio.

Steve Kalafer is an entrepreneur, businessman, film producer and philanthropist. In 1973, Steve entered the automotive industry and, since then, has built one of the most respected and successful franchises in the United States. He has over 16 brands that span 8 locations. As Chairman, his leadership has brought Flemington Car and Truck Country and Clinton Honda national recognition at the highest level of the automotive industry for superior customer service and community involvement. Honors include: Time Magazine Quality Dealer Award National Finalist and New Jersey Automotive Dealer of the Year and the People Magazine Award for Outstanding Service. The dealerships have also been awarded the Automotive News/Good Housekeeping Dealership Service Excellence Award.

Steve has founded or co-founded several businesses. Other successes were:

  • Chairman/Founder of Princeton/American Communications and the Healthcare Information Network (HIN). HIN produced and broadcasted over 600 hours of health-care educational programming in narrowcast to 400 hospitals throughout the United States. The Healthcare Information Network merged with the Hospital Satellite Network in 1987.
  • Chairman/founding investor of Pharmagistics – the Somerset, New Jersey-based healthcare and pharmaceutical services company specializing in sales, marketing, Prescription Drug Marketing Act (PDMA) compliance, and specialty logistical services for healthcare, pharmaceutical and biotech companies that later merged with Publicis.
  • Founding investor of RVA Consulting, LLC a management consulting firm that merged with Cartesian in August of 2007.

Steve combined business acumen and entrepreneurship with his long-time love of baseball. He is one of the founding directors of the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball and the founding Chairman of the 6 time Atlantic League Champion Somerset Patriots Baseball Team. The Patriots are a minor league team affiliated with the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball. Home for the Patriots is TD Bank Ballpark in Bridgewater, NJ.

In addition, Steve is a gifted producer of documentary films. Some of his films include Sister Rose’s Passion, More, Dropping Out, Curtain Call, Bottom of the Ninth, Going Home, The Price of Freedom, The Diary of Immaculee, The Soprano State, New Jersey’s Culture of Corruption, Part I, Barrymore and many more. His films have garnered him 4 Academy Award® nominations, numerous Sundance Film Festival® and Tribeca Film Festival® awards, Best Documentary in the Los Angeles Short Film Festival® and Best Short Documentary at the N.J. Film Fest®, among others.

As a philanthropist and civic leader, Steve has been deeply involved in civic undertakings. He is a former member of the New Jersey Motion Picture and Television Commission under the Kean Administration, served as an appointee to Governor Christine Todd Whitman’s Economic Master Plan Commission for New Jersey and chaired the Transportation subcommittee. He also served on the Department of Treasury’s transition team under the McGreevy administration. In addition, Steve is a board member of the New Jersey Manufacturer’s Insurance Company, Co-chair of the Chairman’s Council of the Actors Fund of America, the Joe Torre Safe At Home Foundation, Robert Wood Johnson/Barnabas Health, and Chairman Emeritus of the Somerset Healthcare Foundation. He was awarded the Actors Fund of America Medal of Honor in April 2013.

Steve’s dedication and personal commitment to his community has been recognized time and time again. A sample of the many awards bestowed upon him include the Hugs for Brady Humanitarian of the Year in 2016, the Anti-Defamation League’s prestigious Torch of Liberty Award for his significant contributions to the social, economic and cultural life of his community, the Ernst and Young Master Entrepreneur of the Year in New Jersey, the Spirit of Jane Rodney Award from the Susan G. Komen Foundation and community awards for his dedication to all issues that impact his community including domestic violence and support for cancer patients and their families.

You may join the group at and RSVP online to the events.  The Meetup gathers every 3rd Tuesday of the month, from 12:00PM-2:00 pm, and is held each month  at AL FRESCO’S located off of 202 North, at the Shoppes at Flemington.
