STOLEN CAR FOUND IN CLINTON

On Sunday, May 31, at approximately 12:20 am, Patrolman David Formalarie observed a 2007 black Mercedes with New York license plates on Center Street. Upon conducting a random inquiry of the license plates, Ptl. Formalarie received an alert indicating that the vehicle was stolen. Ptl. Formalarie stopped the vehicle and spoke with the driver, Eric Cherry, age 54, of Brooklyn. Mr. Cherry advised that he and his common-law wife, the owner of the vehicle, argued earlier in the day and that she threatened to report the vehicle stolen if he drove it. The New York City Police Department confirmed the vehicle as stolen. Mr. Cherry was therefore arrested and issued a summons for Unlawful Taking By Means of Conveyance. No other charges were filed. He was released ROR. The vehicle was towed and impounded.
