SUSPENDED DRIVER STEALS STEP DADS VEHICLE

November 3, 2016 @ approximately 2:00 PM – Police arrested Kathryn E. Banko, age 29 of Raritan Township and charged her with unlawful taking of a means of conveyance. At 1:12 PM police took a report from a resident that his vehicle, a 2009 Chevrolet Express van, had been taken without his consent. The resident reported that he believed that Banko, his stepdaughter, had taken the vehicle and that she did not have permission to do so. The vehicle was entered into NCIC as stolen. At approximately 2:00 PM police observed the vehicle being operated by a person matching the description of Banko on Rt. 202/31 northbound. The vehicle was stopped and Banko was confirmed to be the driver. She was subsequently arrested and was also issued a motor vehicle summons for driving with a suspended driver’s license. The vehicle was returned to the owner and Banko was released from police headquarters after processing. Investigation and arrest by P.O. Adam Swiatek.
