Tailgating leads to 4.7 ounces of pot

On Thursday, April 9, at approximately 7:35 pm, Patrolman Michael Akers stopped a 2012 Mazda wagon operated by Derwin Rodriguez, age 27, of Washington, on Route 31 North for tailgating. During the stop, Ptl. Akers noted that Mr. Rodriguez was overly nervous and soon developed probable cause to believe that Mr. Rodriguez was in possession of a controlled dangerous substance. A search of the vehicle produced approximately 4.7 ounces of marijuana. As a result, Ptl. Akers arrested Mr. Rodriguez and charged him with Possession of Over 50 Grams of Marijuana with Intent to Distribute, Operating a Motor Vehicle While In Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance, and Tailgating.
