Hunterdon County Prosecutor Anthony P. Kearns, III, announced that Michael J. Nathman, of Fort Worth, TX, has pled guilty to one count of first degree Aggravated Sexual Assault, one count of second degree Sexual Assault, and one count of fourth degree Criminal Sexual Contact. According to Prosecutor Kearns, “Michael J. Nathman, age 23, was arrested and charged in December 2015, with Aggravated Sexual Assault, a first degree crime, (2) counts of Sexual Assault, a second degree crime, (6) counts of Endangering the Welfare of Children, a third degree crime, (2) counts of Criminal Sexual Contact, a fourth degree crime, and Lewdness, a fourth degree crime. The crimes occurred in Bethlehem Township between May 2015 and November 2015. Mr. Nathman has remained incarcerated at the Somerset County Jail since his arrest.” Sentencing in this matter has been scheduled for August 12, 2016 before the Honorable Angela F. Borkowski, JSC. The terms of the plea agreement will subject the defendant to 15 years in prison without the possibility of parole. Mr. Nathman will also be required to undergo a psycho-sexual evaluation, register as a sex offender, and will remain under parole supervision for life. Kuczynski announced an investigation by the Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit has led to the arrest of one individual for aggravated sexual assault in Bethlehem Township. NJ. Michael J. Nathman, age 22, was arrested by the Fort Worth Police Department Fugitive Unit and the U.S. Marshals North Texas Fugitive Task Force near his residence in Fort Worth, Texas, for Aggravated Sexual Assault, a 1st degree crime, (2) counts of Sexual Assault, a 2nd degree crime, (6) counts of Endangering the Welfare of Children, a 3rd degree crime, (2) counts of Criminal Sexual Contact, a 4th degree crime, and Lewdness, a 4th degree crime. Mr. Nathman lived in Bethlehem Township, NJ, when the crimes occurred and previously lived in West Point, NY.
The crimes in Bethlehem Township occurred between May 2015 and November 2015. During the summer of 2015, Mr. Nathman worked at the Ockanickon Scout Reservation in Bucks County, PA. According to Prosecutor Kearns, “The guardians of children must always remain vigilant to the fact that those who sexually exploit children could be a trusted friend or family member. Continual communication with children under your care is imperative to keeping them safe and children should be taught about appropriate boundaries.” Bail was set at $1,000,000 cash by the Honorable Angela Borkowski J.S.C. Mr. Nathman is being held at the Tarrant County Jail in Fort Worth, TX, awaiting extradition to New Jersey.
