The Union Forge Heritage Association will host a special lecture on Colonial “Kitchin” Gardens by Master Gardener Ms. Ruth Claus

The Union Forge Heritage Association will host a special lecture on Colonial “Kitchin” Gardens by Master Gardener Ms. Ruth Claus at the historic 1760 Joseph Turner House at 117 Van Syckel’s Road, Hampton NJ on May 17th from 1:00-2:00 pm.  A donation of $10 per person is suggested, and light refreshments will be served.  Through Power point presentation, Ruth will take her audience on an imaginary stroll through colonial “kitchin” or herb gardens that were necessary for early settlers.  Ruth will detail lost gardening methods and how women used herbs to provide food, clothing, medicine and comfort for their families. 
 
Ruth has been a certified Master Gardener since 2001 and through her work as the co-leader with the Speakers Bureau has developed a team of lecturers throughout Hunterdon and Somerset Counties for the past 10 years.  Ruth has served as the president of the Master Gardener bi-county group for several years.
